MEET THE MAKER

I’m Jason, the founder and hands behind Sleepy Woods. 

My path into making wasn't a straight line. In 2023 I was laid off in a reduction of force. In the mess of applying and interviewing and the runaround of trying to get back in front of a desk, I spent more time in my shop and realized that is where my passion is. I took the leap and launched Sleepy Woods.

At Sleepy Woods, I build with purpose - balancing simplicity, durability, and craftsmanship. Whether designing from inspiration or collaborating with a client, I ensure each piece is more than just furniture; it’s a story, a statement, and a reflection of the hands that made it. My wife calls me MacGyver, because I can fix or build anything.

I’ve always been a maker at heart. As a kid, I learned to weld from my dad. His love for materials and mechanics stuck with me, even as I spent years working in tech. Today, I blend that engineer’s mindset with a deep respect for natural materials. I aim to design custom furniture that is both functional and timeless.

I'm constantly taking in design inspiration from the world around me. The sheen of a certain finish, or architectural elements that catch my eye. Especially steel structural elements.

Seeing something go from a vision in my mind to a concrete reality is the reward and purpose of Sleepy Woods.
